Submarines began to be protected by "barbecue grills": the solution from T-90 tanks reached the fleet

A lattice structure was noticed on the conning tower of a missile carrier

Footage has appeared on the Internet showing a Russian nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine (SSBN). On the conning tower of the ship, you can see a massive lattice superstructure, which outwardly resembles the so-called "barbecue grills".

In terms of design, it is similar to the protective screens that are used on T-90M and T-72B3 tanks to counter kamikaze drones and cumulative ammunition.

Officially, the type of submarine and the purpose of the structure are not disclosed. However, its appearance may be due to the increasing threat of drones in the areas of deployment.

The conning tower remains one of the most vulnerable parts of the submarine in the surface position. Periscopes, communication antennas and navigation masts are located here. Even a light drone can damage equipment and limit the capabilities of the ship.
