The Nizhny Novgorod State Technical University named after R.E. Alekseev (NSTU) has received a patent for an electric drive for the vertical movement of a regulating body in emergency protection systems of a nuclear reactor. The device increases the reliability of the mechanisms in critical situations.
The principle of operation is based on converting the rotational movement of the shaft into translational movement, which drives the rack with the regulating body. The electric drive includes a motor with an electrical control unit, a self-braking gearbox, and an electromagnetic clutch that disconnects the kinematic chain from the rack. The key innovation is that the clutch is equipped with an additional winding connected to the voltage processing device. This allows for more precise control of the power supply and prevents false alarms.
The development is particularly relevant for the safety systems of nuclear power plants, where even the slightest failure can have serious consequences. The technical result is a significant increase in the reliability of the emergency protection electric drive.
