AvtoVAZ has launched a deferred service operation to install emergency call units on Lada Granta models. According to the plant's press service, ERA-GLONASS equipment will appear on cars that, at the height of the chip crisis, went to dealers without the mandatory SOS button. All work will be carried out by dealers at the manufacturer's expense.
The recall program covers 41,307 vehicles manufactured in a narrow time frame from September 2021 to April 2022. It was then that the assembly line faced a choice: either stop production due to the lack of imported microchips, or produce simplified configurations. Owners will be invited via notifications, and you can check the VIN code yourself on the Rosstandart portal.
The retrofitting closes the technological debt of three years ago and returns the cars to the legal field of technical regulations. For the plant, this is a demonstration of the ability to cheaply and centrally repair the "legacy" of the global component shortage without shifting the costs to the consumer. In fact, 41,000 "Grants" will receive standard life insurance on the road retroactively.
