New Ulan-2 combat all-terrain vehicles have appeared at the forefront of the Center group of troops. According to the Red Star Information Center, Deputy Company Commander Senior Lieutenant Ivan Bryzgalov said that the second series vehicle surpasses its predecessor in all key parameters: increased cross-country ability, better maneuverability and increased range.
The vehicle is multi-purpose: it is used for delivering ammunition and food, as well as for evacuating the wounded. The body provides places for installing stretchers. Additional protection includes a welded frame made of profile, nets on the windows, front and rear blinds, as well as rubber screens to delay fragments.
Training is currently being conducted in the units: soldiers are learning to urgently leave the cabin, quickly load and unload the vehicle, install stretchers and repel attacks from mock drones.
If the first Ulan was assembled on the basis of the Lada Niva SUV (85 hp, 4×4 wheel formula), then the Ulan-2 is built on the chassis of the GAZ Sobol all-wheel drive mini-truck. The novelty is equipped with an in-line 4-cylinder engine with a capacity of 120 hp, which is easy to maintain and repair in the field.
The carrying capacity of the Ulan-2 has increased to 1.5 tons (compared to 600 kg for its predecessor). The body provides places for installing stretchers - the vehicle can be used to evacuate the wounded. Instead of ordinary doors, there are fabric curtains for quickly leaving the car under fire, and sockets and USB ports for connecting electronic warfare equipment are displayed on the dashboard.
