It has become known why the messenger was named Max and what its logo means

The team considered different options, but settled on the one most understandable to users

The name Max for the new national messenger was not chosen by chance. The details behind the decision were revealed by VK Vice President and Max CEO Farit Khusnoyarov in an interview with RT.

According to him, Max is a familiar abbreviation of the word "maximum." The name is believed to convey the core concept of the messenger: to combine in one app communication with loved ones, access to services, as well as interaction with businesses and government agencies.

The developers went through many options, but settled on the one that best reflects the idea of the service.

Separately, Khusnoyarov explained that there is no difference between the names "Maks" and Max. In official communications and branding, the company uses both versions.

The international name MAX is necessary because the messenger is also developing in foreign markets. More than 6 million people in 40 countries use our service. Recently, specifically for foreign users, we added an English version, and versions in other languages are in development.

The Max CEO also revealed the meaning of the logo. The graphic cloud used in the app icon symbolizes dialogue and friendly communication.

According to him, this is not a random decision. A similar visual form is effectively a standard for messengers. Most services use variations of the "message bubble" in their design.
