The Moscow Department of Transportation announced the launch of KamAZ A5 generation electric buses on route No. 702 in the Eastern Administrative District. According to Deputy Mayor Maxim Liksutov, the transport will reach three stations of the rail framework: Semenovskaya metro station, Shosse Entuziastov, and the MCC station of the same name. The route passes through the districts of Sokoliny Gory, Perovo, Izmailovo, and Ivanovskoye. A total of nine electric buses will operate on the line on weekdays. Replacing one bus with an electric bus reduces CO₂ emissions by more than 60 tons per year.
Technical characteristics of the KamAZ A5 generation electric bus
The vehicles are equipped with an electric cabin heater that does not affect the environment and a climate control system. The range has been increased from 40–50 to 80–90 km while maintaining the same weight.
The cabin features adaptive lighting that changes from cool to warm after 2:00 PM, an 18% larger front route indicator, USB charging slots, media screens with information about stops, and digital validators.
The low-floor design with a folding ramp and a driver call button ensures access for passengers with limited mobility. When the doors are opened, an air curtain is activated to maintain the temperature.
Earlier in 2025, new KamAZ-52222 electric buses with a redesigned cabin layout, a 15% larger storage area, and light strips on the doors were launched on the routes. Moscow continues to develop charging infrastructure: electric buses are serviced at 12 Mosgortrans sites. The capital's order stimulates the development of domestic industry and employment in the regions.
KamAZ A5 generation electric buses are not just a replacement for diesel buses, but a qualitative leap in comfort. The increased range (up to 90 km) allows them to operate on routes without recharging for a full shift. Adaptive lighting reduces eye fatigue, and the air curtain at the doors keeps heat in during the winter and coolness in during the summer.
Earlier it was reported that KamAZ will supply 700 buses of the latest generation A5 KAMAZ-52222 for the capital.
