Employees of KB Smirnov recreated a unique historical car — GAZ-M72 in the "GDR Army" version. The project is based on the memories of an officer of the Soviet Army who served in the western group of Soviet troops in Germany and personally observed the use of such all-terrain vehicles along with GAZ-69. They are asking 12.8 million rubles for a unique car.
The base for the project was a real GAZ-M72 from 1957, found in the Bryansk region in a complete condition suitable for restoration. The car underwent a full cycle of restoration work: complete disassembly, sandblasting, replacement of body parts, repair of the suspension, brake system and engine. The body was painted in the protective army green color of the GDR armed forces. Protective nets made of parachute sling-tapes were installed in the cabin, and the symbols of the GDR army with a red ornament were placed on the doors.
According to the description of an eyewitness, a towed Soviet 23-mm twin anti-aircraft gun ZU-23-2 of the same period was selected and restored to the car. The composition was supplemented with tank headlights, light-masking covers on the standard optics and original tires from the Yaroslavl Tire Plant.
