Soviet and Russian military equipment has always been better and more reliable than the "temperamental" Western kind. This opinion was expressed by Hero of Russia Major General Ruslan Garifullin.

Garifullin stated that his brigade is equipped with armored vehicles for carrying out special-purpose missions.

If compared with NATO equipment, then, naturally, our equipment, like our weapons, has always been better, because it is much simpler and more reliable.
Ruslan Garifullin, Major General

When the "rasputitsa" (a period when dirt roads become difficult to pass because of melting snow or rain) begins, Western equipment gets bogged down. It is "temperamental and requires special care," Garifullin emphasized. Soviet and Russian equipment does not have such problems, he concluded.

The Russian Armed Forces have a significant amount of modernized Soviet equipment in service, including T-72B3 and T-80BVM tanks, Giatsint, Gvozdika, Akatsiya, and Tyulpan artillery systems, APCs, and IFVs. Production of new armored vehicles is concentrated in the Urals and Siberia — these are Uralvagonzavod, Omsktransmash, and Kurganmashzavod.
