The Russian military has begun using a new, previously unknown Lis-2 interceptor drone. The drone has received an automatic target acquisition option, which allows it to effectively pursue and shoot down objects in the air.
Lis-2 is easy to operate and can be launched from any flat horizontal surface. Judging by the published photographs, the interceptor can be compared in design with similar drones of the STING type.
The full technical specifications of the Lis-2 have not been officially disclosed. Usually, such interceptors accelerate to 200–230 km/h and have a range of up to 5 km, like the well-known "Yolka".
Also noteworthy is the name — Lis-2. Among NATO pilots, the phrase "Fox 2" is traditionally used as a signal when launching a missile with an infrared homing head. However, there is probably no connection and the name of the drone does not emphasize its anti-aircraft specialization.
