"Niva" with a 180-horsepower engine from Toyota is being sold in the Altai Territory for 550 thousand rubles

A listing for the sale of a classic VAZ-2121 SUV has appeared on the Drom classifieds website. The car is located in the Altai Territory, and they are asking 550 thousand rubles for it. The car has been seriously modified: the standard engine has been replaced by a Japanese unit, and many components in the design have been changed.

Instead of the original engine, the engineers installed a 3S-GE gasoline engine from Toyota. The seller did not specify the exact modification, but there is a BEAMS badge on the valve cover. This indicates a later version of the unit, which develops at least 180 horsepower. The engine works in tandem with a five-speed manual transmission. According to the documents, the SUV was manufactured in 1981, but the technical condition corresponds to newer cars. The seller said that the car was completely rebuilt in 2020.

In order for the transmission to withstand the increased power, the transfer case was mounted on a special subframe. The driveshafts were replaced with reinforced ones, along with new universal joints. The owner claims that the all-wheel drive system is working properly, and the chassis elements were put in order last winter.

The appearance and comfort of the car have also been improved. The body is covered with full sound insulation. The wheels are taken from Honda, diameter - 17 inches. LED headlights were installed in the front and rear. Even the door handles were replaced with parts from Toyota Camry. In the interior, the dashboard is taken from the modern Lada 21214. The seats and steering wheel with power steering were borrowed from Lada Priora. All equipment is functioning, the car is ready for operation.
