A complete transition to paying pensions in digital rubles is not planned in Russia; it is only about one of the possible formats for receiving payments. This was stated in an interview with RIA Novosti by Yaroslav Nilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs.

According to him, the digital ruble is still in experimental mode, and it is premature to talk about mass use. Pensioners retain the right to choose any convenient method - crediting to a bank card, delivery by a postman, or, now, a digital ruble wallet.

Nilov stressed that there is no coercion and should not be any, and with any changes it is necessary to take into account the digital literacy and established habits of older people.

On the eve, the head of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, announced the launch of the digital ruble into mass circulation.
