The tanker "Arctic Metagaz" under the Russian flag was attacked in the Mediterranean Sea near the territorial waters of Malta. This was reported by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation.
According to the department, the attack was carried out from the coast of Libya using enemy unmanned boats. The vessel was en route with cargo from the port of Murmansk, documented in accordance with all international rules.
We qualify the incident as an act of international terrorism and maritime piracy, a gross violation of the fundamental norms of international maritime law. Such criminal acts, committed with the connivance of the authorities of the EU member states, should not go unassessed by the international community.
Earlier www1.ru wrote that "Arctic Metagaz" caught fire off the coast of Malta: the crew was successfully evacuated to another vessel.
