After a four-year pause, AvtoVAZ has resumed production of the upgraded Lada Vesta Sport in sedan and station wagon body styles, the company’s press service reported. Assembly of the model was halted in 2022 due to the departure of French partners and problems with component supplies caused by sanctions.
We are launching production of the new-generation Lada Vesta Sport. The model has received a refined sports chassis and the most powerful engine in the Lada production lineup.
The car was created taking into account the experience of the Lada Sport engineering division accumulated in circuit racing. Compared with the standard Vesta versions, the new model differs by a boosted engine, stiff sports suspension, and an upgraded braking system. More than 200 original parts were used in the design, and the interior and electronic systems were modernized, the manufacturer claims.
Technical features
The powertrain is built on the basis of the 1.8 L EVO engine. Power has been increased to 147 hp (+21%), and torque has grown by 8%. Sports camshafts, an original cold-air intake system, and a larger-diameter exhaust have been installed, and a new engine controller calibration has been applied. All improvements were carried out while preserving a margin of safety and compliance with the Euro-5 standard.
For the first time, the Vesta Sport uses a 6-speed manual transmission designed for high torque. The suspension has been adapted for different road conditions: ground clearance is 158 mm. Retuned springs and shock absorbers, a wider track, and testing on racing circuits and in the mountains confirmed high stability and handling.
Design and equipment
The aerodynamic body kit improves stability at speed. The interior is finished in a black-and-red color scheme, with seats featuring pronounced lateral support, while the steering wheel and manual gear lever are trimmed in leather. The onboard computer integrates functions for recording lap time and speed over a distance for track driving. The Lada Vesta Sport will be available in sedan and station wagon body styles.
