Volga has stated that the new Russian brand has no connection with the Chinese automaker Geely. This was revealed in an interview with Autonews by Tatyana Fadeeva, head of the brand and JSC "Passenger Car Production".
We are not cooperating with Geely. Neither directly nor indirectly.
Rumors about a possible partnership with Geely emerged after the publication of drawings online that closely resembled the Geely Monjaro crossover. At the time, the parties refrained from commenting.
Fadeeva noted that when creating the new brand, the company focused on the top ten Chinese manufacturers that successfully operate in both the domestic and international markets. Legally, the Volga brand belongs to JSC "Passenger Car Production" and is not associated with the Gorky Automobile Plant.
