A Su-30SM fighter crashed in Kazakhstan during a scheduled training flight. This was announced in the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
The incident occurred during approach to landing at the airfield of the training center in the city of Balkhash, Karaganda region.
The department noted that the crew of the aircraft ejected in a timely manner. The pilots are alive, there is no threat to their life and health. They are under the supervision of medical specialists. The crash area has been cordoned off. There is no threat to the population and infrastructure facilities.
A special commission under the leadership of the head of the flight safety department has been created to establish the causes of the emergency. It included specialized aviation service specialists.
According to data from open sources, the Air Defense Forces of Kazakhstan have about 24 Su-30SM fighters. In the summer of 2024, the republic purchased six more aircraft.
Earlier, the Russian court established the responsibility of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation for the emergency with the Su-34 combat aircraft in Yeysk on October 17, 2022.
