The Moscow Government has decided to conclude 11 long-term state contracts for services involving the installation and maintenance of fast charging stations for electric vehicles (EVCS). The capital plans to install about 550 more stations, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on his channel in Max.
Since 2015, the number of electric vehicles in Moscow has grown more than 150-fold — to 40.4 thousand units. According to expert estimates, by 2030 the electric vehicle fleet could grow another 8 times and reach 320 thousand. In addition, the Mosgortrans fleet includes almost 3 thousand electric buses; by this indicator, Moscow ranks first among cities in Europe and the United States, the mayor added.
Given the popularity of environmentally friendly transport, expanding the charging infrastructure has become one of our priority tasks. <...> The Moscow Government will take responsibility for preparing ready-made sites for the placement of EVCS at street parking areas and city parking lots with barriers in different parts of the city.
Operators will handle the installation, operation, and maintenance of EVCS for 7 years in compliance with strict requirements and standards.
