At the Vladimir Grib mining and processing plant in the Arkhangelsk Region, a gem-quality diamond weighing 228.62 carats was mined on February 13. This was reported by AGD Diamonds.
The crystal measures 50.5 × 30.6 × 18.6 mm. According to preliminary classification, specialists assigned it to the second type of diamonds with minimal nitrogen content. Such stones are extremely rare and account for less than 1% of natural diamonds.
The find became the first especially large stone (over 50 carats) recovered at the deposit in 2026, and the 52nd unique diamond over the entire period of its development.
In 2025, AGD Diamonds exceeded its production plan and mined 4.2 million carats. This year, the company will continue drilling in promising sections of the Zimneberezhny District and expand geological exploration at the Krasnoborsk area within the framework of a public-private partnership.
