Russia's Longest Single Bus Volgabus-627001 Begins Carrying Passengers to Domodedovo Airport

The three-axle "Hyperbus," 14.5 meters long, accommodates a record 55 seats

The Moscow region carrier Mostransavto (MAP No. 3) has put the three-axle Volgabus-627001 bus, named "Hyperbus," on route No. 30. The bus runs between the city of Domodedovo and the airport of the same name — one of the busiest destinations in the region.

The bus is 14.5 meters long, making it the largest single (non-articulated) bus on the Russian market for urban and suburban transportation. Despite its size, the Volgabus-627001 is adapted to work in dense urban traffic and complex interchanges thanks to its steerable rear axle — it significantly reduces the turning radius, compensating for the length of the vehicle.

The main feature of the "Hyperbus" is its 55 seats. This is an absolute record for urban and suburban models on the Russian market. This layout allows efficient service on routes with high passenger traffic, avoiding crowding during peak hours and providing comfort for passengers with luggage traveling to the airport.

The bus is equipped with a Russian YaMZ diesel engine — a step towards import substitution in the heavy equipment segment. The three-axle configuration is due to both the length of the vehicle and the need to distribute the load on the road surface.

The launch of the "Hyperbus" on the route to Domodedovo Airport is effectively testing the concept of extra-long single buses in real-world operation. If the experience proves successful, the model can be scaled to other airport and suburban destinations where high passenger traffic is combined with comfort requirements.
