At the World Defense Show 2026 international exhibition in Saudi Arabia, the Rostec State Corporation spoke about the capabilities of specialized ammunition designed for anti-drone guns. Bekhan Ozdoev, Industrial Director of the Armaments Cluster, member of the Bureau of the Union of Mechanical Engineers, noted in an interview that Igla cartridges successfully hit drones even with metal and durable material bodies.
According to Ozdoev, the cartridges are equipped with high-strength shot based on a tungsten alloy. At a distance of 100 meters, such shot penetrates an aluminum plate 4 mm thick. This level of penetration, according to the specialist, is quite sufficient to guarantee the destruction of drones made of hard plastics or iron.
Igla cartridges have already been launched into mass production and are regularly supplied to units of the Russian Armed Forces. The ammunition is adapted specifically for smooth-bore weapons used as anti-drone guns, and demonstrates high accuracy and efficiency at medium distances.
