In anticipation of the World Defense Show 2026 international exhibition, which takes place in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) from February 8th to 12th, Russian authorities expect the imminent signing of agreements for the supply of Yak-130M light attack aircraft abroad. This was announced by a representative of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of Russia.
Russian aviation equipment is of steady interest to Southeast Asian countries. We are in active dialogue on Yak-130M aircraft with foreign customers who have experience in operating Yak-130 combat training aircraft. We expect to sign the relevant contracts in the near future.
The Yak-130M is an advanced version of the Yak-130 combat training aircraft, which is already successfully operated in the armed forces of several states. In particular, these machines were purchased by the air forces of Myanmar, Laos, Bangladesh, Vietnam and a number of other countries. The modernized Yak-130M model is adapted to perform combat missions as a light attack aircraft.
According to Alexander Mikheev, General Director of Rosoboronexport, the potential market for the Yak-130M is estimated at approximately 40 units. Negotiations are currently underway with potential buyers from the Asia-Pacific region and Africa.
