Russian Railways received 386 new passenger cars manufactured in Tver in 2025

Russian Railways (RZD) acquired 386 new long-distance passenger cars manufactured by the Tver Carriage Works (part of the Transmashholding group) in 2025, the press service of Russian Railways reported.

These include 241 single-deck and 145 double-deck cars of various types – compartment cars, staff cars, cars with seating, restaurant cars, as well as double-deck sleeping cars and open-plan cars, which are only available in a single-deck version.

The new cars are already operating on key routes: from Moscow to St. Petersburg, Voronezh, Nizhny Novgorod, Surgut, as well as from St. Petersburg to Belgorod, Bryansk and other cities.

In addition, the fleet of the Federal Passenger Company (FPC), a subsidiary of Russian Railways, was replenished with 83 cars that underwent major overhaul. During the modernization, the bodies, bogies, assemblies and internal equipment were updated, and the characteristics and comfort of the cabins were improved. 38 new sleeping cars were also created, of which 28 have a horizontal and 10 have a vertical arrangement of berths.
