Lada El Lada: A Rare Example of AvtoVAZ's First Production Electric Vehicle is Being Sold in Moscow

The 2013 car has been preserved almost in its original factory condition

A unique example of AvtoVAZ's first production electric vehicle, the Lada El Lada (VAZ-1817), has appeared for sale in Moscow. The 2013 car with a mileage of 54.5 thousand km is priced at 550 thousand rubles. The seller specifies that the battery has used about 60% of its resource, so the real range on a single charge is only 70 km.

The exhibited station wagon is not just a production model: only about 100 cars were produced, and this example is one of the five that AvtoVAZ handed over to the leadership of Kislovodsk for a pilot electric fleet. Until 2022, these cars were used as environmentally friendly taxis for tourists in the resort area. The regional Ministry of Transport never purchased the remaining cars planned for purchase, which made the Kislovodsk batch exclusive.

The electric car is equipped with an 82 hp engine. Fast charging is not provided; charging from a regular 220 V outlet takes about 8 hours. The car has changed owners twice, the PTS is original, and the body is in good condition.

Lada El Lada is the first production electric vehicle of AvtoVAZ in modern Russia. Earlier in the USSR and Russia, electric vehicles were also created: the experimental Oka (VAZ-1111E, 1992), VAZ-2801 (1975–1981), early models NAMI-750/751 (1948), U-131 minibuses (1974) and RAF-2204/2910 (1970s). All of them were prototypes or small-scale, while El Lada was released in a limited pilot series.
