Rosatom State Corporation, together with the National Research Center (NRC) Kurchatov Institute, has developed new programs in the field of nuclear medicine and thermonuclear energy, which the head of the corporation, Alexey Likhachev, called the "day after tomorrow" of nuclear energy. He announced this in an interview with the Russia-24 TV channel.
We have fine-tuned our cooperation with a number of traditional partners. First of all, with the Kurchatov Institute. New programs have been developed. I would especially like to emphasize the programs in nuclear medicine and thermonuclear fusion. This is not tomorrow, but the day after tomorrow in nuclear energy
Likhachev emphasized that cooperation with the Kurchatov Institute made it possible to create high-tech projects that are already bringing significant economic benefits. According to him, half of Rosatom's revenue in 2025, exceeding 3 trillion rubles, is generated by more than a hundred projects launched in recent years. Among them, special attention is paid to nuclear medicine programs and developments in the field of thermonuclear energy.
The head of the corporation noted that Rosatom has achieved 100% import substitution in terms of critical information infrastructure. All key software components for the operation of the nuclear industry are now being created in Russia. Likhachev emphasized that this allows for the completely independent development of critical technologies and reduces dependence on foreign solutions.
