According to the corporation's press service, the fuel batch has already been delivered to the nuclear power plant site and has passed all the necessary customs and technical control procedures. This is a crucial stage in preparation for the start of the physical launch of the power unit, which is scheduled for the coming months. It is noted that the fuel used meets international safety standards and is specifically designed for VVER-1000 type reactors installed at Kudankulam.

The parties previously confirmed their commitment not only to complete the construction of units No. 3 and No. 4 on time, but also to promote joint projects to localize the production of fuel elements in India.

Kudankulam NPP is the largest joint energy project between Russia and India. The first two power units of the plant with VVER-1000 reactors have been successfully operating since 2013 and 2016, respectively, and provide a stable supply of electricity to the power system of the southern states of India. The third and fourth units are in the final stages of construction, and in the future, the construction of two additional units (No. 5 and No. 6) is planned, which will make Kudankulam one of the most powerful nuclear power plants in Asia.
