A real New Year's gift was extracted by diamond miners of the SeverAlmaz processing plant. Two precious stones of unusual shape were mined at a deposit in the Arkhangelsk region. This was reported by the press service of Alrosa.
The first of them weighs a little more than 17 carats and resembles a Christmas ball. The second diamond has the outlines of a cute puppy and has a mass of 2.7 carats.
The deposit in Arkhangelsk is unique in that it consists of six kimberlite pipes, which contain more than 250 million tons of diamond-bearing ore.
According to Ilya Zenin, diamonds from the Arkhangelsk deposit are distinguished by interesting morphological features and stand out among others with more rounded shapes and a large number of facets.
In May of this year, Alrosa extracted the largest diamond in the history of Russia. A 460-carat amber crystal was found in Yakutia.
