The Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia has signed contracts for the supply of 60 import-substituted aircraft: 18 MC-21s and 42 SJ-100s. Preliminary agreements have been signed with several airlines, and deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2026, the ministry said.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade emphasized that in the context of sanctions, the primary task remains to meet domestic demand for domestic aviation equipment and ensure the country's technological sovereignty.
Currently, the MC-21 and SJ-100 are undergoing certification tests: more than 200 flights need to be performed. The Il-114 is also in the final stages of testing. Deliveries will begin after Rosaviatsiya approves the results.
The main customer for the MC-21 aircraft is Aeroflot. The airline plans to receive 108 aircraft by 2030 and increase its fleet to 200 units by 2033. In total, Russian airlines should receive 990 civilian aircraft by 2030.
During the "Direct Line" on December 19, President Vladimir Putin instructed to increase the production of domestic passenger aircraft. He noted that the shortage of aircraft was one of the reasons for the increase in air ticket prices in Russia, and stressed the need to accelerate the production of new models to meet domestic demand.
