With high-explosive fragmentation and thermobaric warhead: a low-observable strike drone has been patented in Russia

The development belongs to the "Molniya" enterprise

Engineers of the "Molniya" enterprise have received a patent for a strike drone as part of a ground complex. Stealth technologies (low observability) were used in the product.

The one-time use drone with ground launch will be equipped with combat equipment. We are talking about a high-explosive fragmentation and thermobaric warhead. In addition, the new drone may receive equipment for simulating air targets ("decoys").

According to the patent documentation, the UAV will have a trapezoidal faceted fuselage, a swept high-wing, and an S-shaped air intake. To reduce radar signature, the developers proposed using radio-transparent materials.

A feature of the UAV's use is launching from a ground launcher using a starting powder accelerator.
Authors of the patent

The drone can be launched in three echelons:

  • to simulate a target ("decoy")
  • to destroy enemy air defense systems
  • to strike at designated targets

The developers note that the drone will be able to fly at an extremely low altitude (up to 100 m). This reduces the likelihood of its detection.
