In Russia, it is possible to start launching a 5G network with existing frequencies and equipment. This was announced by Sergey Anokhin, CEO of VimpelCom.
If this approach is approved, then next year we will start seeing the 5G icon on our phones. Yes, there may not be gigabit speeds everywhere, but 5G will become a reality.
Anokhin noted that the project has already received preliminary approval and is awaiting consideration by the end of the year. He emphasized that the introduction of Russian equipment for 5G is planned for 2028-2029, as soon as serial equipment becomes available.
Earlierwww1.ru reported that the domestic 5G satellite communication system wastested in Russia for the first time.
