United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of Rostec) has improved the latest AL-41ST-25 industrial gas turbine engine, introducing seven technical improvements to increase efficiency, power and reliability. This was reported in the UEC press service.
In particular, engineers improved the gas dynamics of the flow path of the unit, and also significantly improved the air and oil systems.
The results of special tests of a prototype that took place at the Arskaya compressor station were used to develop new solutions.
Evgeny Semivelichenko, Managing Director of UEC-UMPO, said that special tests allowed a detailed assessment of the operation of all systems and components and verification of the mathematical model of the installation.
The solutions proposed by the designers of the A. Lulka Design Bureau have been tested on the test bench and have proven their effectiveness during acceptance tests. The achieved efficiency indicators of 39.3% under ISO conditions are currently the best for engines in the 25 MW power class.
In the near future, the АЛ-41СТ-25 will be sent to the Arskaya compressor station for further pilot industrial tests and pilot industrial operation.
The updated engine has some of the best-in-class indicators for efficiency, economy and time between overhauls, and also maintains efficiency at elevated ambient temperatures, UEC noted.
Due to its compactness and modular design, quick installation, commissioning and maintenance of the product are ensured. This is the first domestic development of this level, which is designed to replace foreign analogues.
