Construction work on the first unit of the "Akkuyu" NPP in Turkey has been completed by 95%. This was announced by the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey, Alparslan Bayraktar.
Most of the necessary equipment for the NPP has already arrived in Turkey, but some components are still en route from China. Currently, Turkey is making efforts to release the funding blocked in the United States, which is intended for the "Akkuyu" NPP.
2 billion have been stuck in JP Morgan for a very long time, and, I think, the Russians are discussing the issue of releasing this money with the Americans. We are also trying to play a mediating role to help unblock these funds.
Alparslan Bayraktar expressed hope that the funds would be "unfrozen." The start of electricity generation at the station is scheduled for 2026.
