In St. Petersburg, navigation on the Neva River, as well as on the Bolshaya and Malaya Neva, will end on the night of November 30. From this moment on, regular bridge openings will be suspended until spring, according to the city administration's press service.
For the period from March to November 2025, 2,206 bridge openings were carried out on the rivers, including 88 technical ones, and 1,484 vessels passed along the city's main waterway. Openings on the river's branches ended on November 15.
In December, specialists will continue to carry out technical openings for servicing equipment and structures that cannot be serviced during the navigation period. Diagnostics and repair of engineering systems and structural elements of the draw spans are also planned. During such operations, personnel practice actions in emergency situations, simulating power outages, pump failures, or hydraulic cylinders.
In the spring, after the off-season period, trial bridge openings will be carried out to adjust control systems and service units that are inaccessible in the raised state.
According to the administration, in 2025, the largest number of openings were performed by the Palace (417), Annunciation (387), and Volodarsky (322) bridges. The high figures are explained by their location on the route of ships heading to Lake Ladoga and the Gulf of Finland. The peak of openings occurred in June - 336 times.
