Novorossiysk is increasing its export potential: the city has begun a large-scale expansion of its port infrastructure. Two key investment projects are being implemented simultaneously, which will significantly increase the throughput capacity of the southern transport hub.
At the "Transport of Russia" forum, the Novorossiysk Sea Commercial Port presented materials on the construction of a deep-sea universal terminal based on NSRZ for the transshipment of iron ore raw materials. The project, worth 120.7 billion rubles, is scheduled for completion by December 2027. To date, 17.6 billion rubles have been invested, specialized equipment has been manufactured, and construction work is underway: artificial land plots are being formed, berths are being erected, and coastal protection is being carried out.
The new terminal will be designed to handle 12 million tons of iron ore raw materials, with the possibility of expanding to 20 million tons.
In parallel, a terminal for the transshipment of mineral fertilizers with a capacity of 6 million tons per year is being designed in Novorossiysk, which is scheduled to be commissioned in 2025-2030. The facility will process urea, potash and nitrogen-phosphorus fertilizers. Technical solutions are currently being developed and an investment declaration is being prepared.
The seaport of Novorossiysk is located in the northeastern part of the Black Sea and includes several harbors - from the Inner harbor to the "Shesharis" oil harbor and the CPC-R terminal. The approaches to Novorossiysk Bay are provided with a developed system of navigation equipment, including two fairways, and allow receiving large-tonnage vessels, which makes the port strategically important for Russian exports.
The development of two new terminals will strengthen the port's competitive position, redistribute part of the cargo flows and allow Russia to increase exports of metals and fertilizers to foreign markets. Experts note that the modernization of infrastructure will also increase the stability of logistics and reduce dependence on the transshipment capacities of other regions.
