VK Holding has postponed the large-scale launch event for the Max messenger for the second time, Frank Media has learned. The company does not disclose the reasons for the delay.
Max has been in beta since March 2025. Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadaev, stated that the presentation would take place in the summer, then VK Vice President Alexander Morozov specified - in early autumn. However, neither in summer nor in autumn did a major event take place. According to a Frank Media source, the event has been postponed indefinitely. The VK press service did not provide comments.
The company positions Max as a Russian analogue of the Chinese WeChat, combining a messenger, payment system, news aggregator and other services. The project has state support: in the summer of 2025, Max received the status of a national messenger and integration with "Gosuslugi" and the "Gosklyuch" application is planned, allowing you to sign legally significant documents from your phone.
As of November 14, the Max audience reached 55 million users, with an average daily reach of over 25.6 million people. VK does not disclose the volume of investments in the platform. Previously, the holding already had messengers, including "VK Messenger", VK Teams and "Sferum", but none became a mass product.
