Only one in 146 transfers to fraudsters is successful, according to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation

Protection efficiency has almost tripled in a year

Only one in 146 attempts to transfer money to fraudsters is successful today. This was announced in an interview with RIA Novosti by Vadim Uvarov, Director of the Information Security Department of the Bank of Russia.

According to him, the effectiveness of protection against financial fraud has increased significantly over the year:

Now only one in 146 transfers manages to be completed by them. A year ago, the picture was different: then there were only 55 unsuccessful operations for each fraudulent transfer

He emphasized that the Bank of Russia, together with credit institutions, is constantly strengthening cyber fraud countermeasures systems, improving transaction analysis algorithms and identifying suspicious transactions.

At the same time, the regulator expects an increase in the number of detected fraudulent transactions by the end of 2025. This is due not only to the activity of attackers, but also to the improvement of monitoring systems.

In the first half of 2025, banks prevented 82.5 million attempts to steal funds totaling 8 trillion rubles - almost twice as much as in the same period last year.
