The self-propelled 203-mm artillery system 2S7 «Pion» is one of the most powerful field guns in the world. One of its shells weighing 110 kg and a range of up to 47.5 km can wipe out an entire block, the Russian Ministry of Defense said.
A constructive feature is separate-case loading. The propellant charge is fed into the case-bag separately.
The automated feeding system speeds up the rate of fire, despite the huge caliber, and the machine itself remains mobile thanks to the organized tactics of the calculations, the department noted.
