Fourth-generation Su-25SM/SM3 fighter jets in service with the Air Force of Belarus have begun to be equipped with advanced containerized electronic warfare (EW) systems of the Talisman family. This was noted by military expert Yevgeny Damantsev.
The Talisman EW system provides not only suppression of the transmitting and receiving paths of radar detection and illumination of anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMs), but also target designation for the IR trap firing system when approaching anti-aircraft missiles are detected.
In terms of software and hardware, Talisman is adapted for use in the electronic component base architecture of MiG-29BM, Su-25SM2/3, Yak-130 fighters and, probably, Su-30SM.
Its integration into the onboard systems of the Su-25SM3 of the Belarusian Air Force, components of tactical nuclear weapons, has now become a priority task.
The Talisman complex is built on a three-module multi-band principle. For example, the Talisman Block-1 module of the X-band from 8 to 12 GHz is designed to counter active radar homing heads (Homing Heads) of anti-aircraft missiles and air combat missiles.
The Talisman Block-2 J/Ku-band module from 12 to 18 GHz is designed to counter the Homing Heads of the Aster-30 SAM and MICA-EM air combat missiles, as well as some types of airborne radars and SAM guidance radars, including the Osa-AKM.
Also, the Talisman Block-3 H-band module from 6 to 8 GHz will be useful for suppressing surveillance radars and combat mode radars. The Talisman complex is equipped with a barrier radar to detect and warn the crew of the approach of an air or anti-aircraft guided missile with an optical homing head.
The main "core" of the Su-25SM3 weapons control system is theSOLT-25 optoelectronic sighting and surveillance system. The complex received the possibility of 16x magnification and automatic tracking of a moving target at a distance of approximately 6-8 km with an accuracy of up to half a meter.
