Italian Centauro armored vehicles, known as "tank destroyers", are unsuitable for operation in difficult weather conditions and off-road conditions. Therefore, the Russian Armed Forces refused to buy them, said military expert Sergei Suvorov.
He recalled that two Centauro armored vehicles were tested in 2012 at the Cuban training ground of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
As the practice of testing at the Cuban training ground showed, as soon as small frosts began, problems arose. The hydropneumatic suspension began to freeze and stopped working altogether.
After the snowfall, all Centauro test runs ended with them being towed to the park by a BTR-80 armored personnel carrier. Suvorov added that the use of "Centaurs" assumes the absence of anti-tank weapons in the enemy.
Earlierwww1.ru reported thatthe Russian army received new "Cornets" and "Krasnopol-M2".
