В МВД рассказали, как защитить детей при использовании «умных» колонок

Security officials urged parents to teach children the rules of digital hygiene

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia gave advice to parents on how to ensure the safety of children when using "smart" speakers. The information is published in the official Telegram channel of the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

Experts suggest disabling the purchase function and data personalization in the speaker. This way, the child's requests will not be available for collecting and offering targeted advertising. To protect children from unwanted information, you should activate the "child mode" on the speaker, as well as enable safe search.

A child should not be allowed to make voice purchases or control important "smart" home devices, such as locks and electrical appliances. Parents should set up notifications of attempts to access prohibited content, as well as control the time children use the device.

Teach children to contact you if the speaker says something strange or frightening, and be sure to tell children about the rules of digital hygiene, make it clear that the speaker is a machine, not a person.
Bulletin of the Cyberpolice of Russia

Experts recommend setting a strong Wi-Fi password on the router, changing the name and password of the "smart" speaker, as well as enabling multi-factor authentication and regularly updating the software.
