Ashinskiy Metallurgical Plant (AMZ) in the Chelyabinsk region will reduce production and staff, the regional prosecutor's office reported.
By the end of 2025, the company will mothball the stainless steel workshop due to the cessation of production of household goods and lay off over 300 workers. The order was signed by the plant's general director.
Laid-off employees were offered options for further employment at a meeting with representatives from the HR department, trade union, training center, employment service, and the city prosecutor's office.
AMZ is a city-forming enterprise in the region, one of the largest Russian manufacturers of special alloys — amorphous and electrical steel, and heavy plate. AMZ products are essential for the needs of military factories, the oil and gas, chemical, nuclear, aviation, and space industries.
Earlier, the Supreme Court returned control of the Ivanovo Heavy Machine Tool Building Plant, a crucial enterprise for the defense industry, to the state corporation "Rostec".
