Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) has presented the import-substituting self-propelled amphibious vehicle MTA-01.
To date, the creation of a prototype and the creation of a set of design documentation has taken about 40 million rubles. We will certainly have to add some more to the refinement of the mechanical part and to the testing.
One of the key features of the amphibious vehicle is a hydraulic ice-cutting unit, which allows for the opening of ice cover of water bodies, cutting channels, installing boom barriers and carrying out flood control measures. Thanks to the ability to quickly switch the tracked propeller to auxiliary screw engines, the machine provides high cutting speed and safety of work on ice.
After the formation of ice cover on the Neva River, it is planned to test the machine with the participation of specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. In the future, the amphibious vehicle will be supplemented with equipment for cleaning water bodies from oil products and other specialized devices (reed mower and rakes).
The customer of the machine was the largest waste disposal operator, as well as the search and rescue service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of St. Petersburg. Previously, Swedish equipment was used for these purposes.
Mass production of such machines is scheduled to begin in 2027.
Earlier www1.ru reported that mass production of the import-substituting amphibious vehicle was established at Verfer.
