The number of dealerships in Russia is decreasing; from January to September 2025, there were 125 fewer than in the same period last year. According to a study by Gazprombank Autoleasing and Autobusiness Review, 638 car dealerships closed their doors, while only 513 new ones opened.
The Chinese segment is undergoing active reformatting. The number of dealerships for Chinese brands has decreased to 2.6 thousand. This corresponds to 403 new showrooms opening and 491 old showrooms closing.
The Russian brand Solaris topped the list in terms of the number of new dealerships — their number increased by 54 and reached 130. In second place is the Korean KGM with an increase of 43 centers, and the Chinese Li Auto closes the top three with 35 new points of sale.
The authors of the study also emphasize that dealers have become more active in investing in those brands that have only recently gained official status in Russia, including brands such as Li Auto, Avatr, and Rox. Investments are also directed towards brands with stable incomes and free franchises — Haval Pro, Changan, Chery, and Foton.
From January to September 2025, Chinese brands occupied 64% of the dealership market. Chery remains the leader in terms of the number of showrooms with 261 centers, followed by Geely with 212 and Changan with 196 showrooms. Judging by the average sales per dealership, Haval leads.
Earlier it was reported that in September, sales of new passenger cars reached record values for this year: 122,659 cars were sold, which is 18.7% less than in September 2024. In the nine months of 2025, 895.9 thousand new cars were sold in the country — 22.4% less than in the same period last year.
