Footage of new BMD-2 infantry fighting vehicles has gone viral on the Web. They were equipped with numerous protection systems, which affected the main function - rapid landing of personnel in a hot spot.
The photo shows that the BMD-2s received an anti-drone barbecue grill and the so-called "doshirak" - fluffed metal cables. This protection prevents drone strikes.
In addition, the BMD-2 was equipped with rubber-fabric screens, smoke grenades and an electronic warfare system. Additional sides were also welded to the rear of the combat vehicles, allowing cargo to be transported on top.
This arrangement surprised military experts, who pointed out the impossibility of soldiers quickly leaving the vehicle.
A 30-mm automatic cannon, similar to the one used on the BMP-2, was installed on the BMD-2 from weapons. This significantly increased the effectiveness of combating infantry and lightly armored vehicles.
