In September 2025, sales of "Moskvich" cars in Russia decreased by almost a third. According to the analytical agency "Autostat", only 1.2 thousand cars were sold in a month - 37% less than in September last year. Since the beginning of the year, the decline amounted to 24%, to 11.2 thousand cars sold.
The main demand remains only for the "Moskvich 3" crossover - it accounted for 83% of all September sales. Other models, including the "Moskvich 6" liftback, the "Moskvich 3e" electric crossover and the larger "Moskvich 8", have not yet been able to interest the mass buyer. At the same time, 82.5% of cars were purchased by individuals, and the remaining part was accounted for by the corporate sector.
Experts attribute the decline in interest to a combination of several factors - high price, limited choice of modifications and poor brand recognition. Although "Moskvich" is actively promoted as a symbol of the revival of the Russian automotive industry, its products still largely depend on Chinese technologies and components, which may reduce consumer confidence.
