Since the beginning of 2025, the BIT system, based on artificial intelligence, has prevented thefts in Russian stores totaling more than 2.2 billion rubles. This was reported by Rostec's press service.
The software, developed in collaboration with NtechLab, is used in about 10,000 retail outlets across the country from Vladivostok to Kaliningrad. The system quickly analyzes video streams from surveillance cameras, recognizes suspicious actions, and notifies personnel.
According to Rostec, alcohol, cosmetics, and electronics have become the most attractive items for shoplifters. Thefts are most often committed by men with low incomes. They hide goods under their clothes.
Professional groups of shoplifters, who pose the greatest danger to retail, however, use more cunning methods. Fortunately, artificial intelligence cannot be outsmarted.
According to him, AI analyzes data from cameras and notifies store employees. Thus, when using such a system, there is not even a hypothetical possibility of theft.
