The largest Russian online marketplace, Wildberries, has launched a pilot project in Belarus to accept cryptocurrency for order payments. The service is available in experimental mode for residents of the Minsk High-Tech Park.
The project is being implemented through Wildberries' partner, the Whitebird crypto platform, which is also a resident of the Park. The payment scheme is arranged through the issuance of an electronic certificate denominated in Belarusian rubles. It is used exclusively for purchases on the marketplace.
The buyer selects the "Pay with cryptocurrency" option, then sends digital assets to the Whitebird address. The platform converts them to BYN at the current rate and issues a certificate, which is automatically credited to the account balance in Wildberries. The conversion is displayed in real time, and no fee is charged for issuing the certificate.
The system supports USDT, Bitcoin, Ether, TRX, and TON. The new service is integrated into the Wildberries website and mobile applications, but is currently only available to a limited number of users in a test format.
