Electronic warfare personnel of the Leningrad Military District deployed the "Torn-MDM" system as part of the joint strategic exercises "Zapad-2025" in the Kaliningrad region, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Military personnel identified coordinates and created a "profile" of the simulated enemy's signal.
The intelligence officers deployed the system and camouflaged it in the area. Guard posts were set up for continuous duty, monitoring the airspace for attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
Preparing the system for operation took no more than 15 minutes. During the exercises, the military personnel conducted search and direction finding of the simulated enemy's radio-emitting devices. After detecting the signal, the operators determined the "enemy's" concentration area and transmitted the data to electronic warfare and artillery assets.
The "Torn-MDM" reconnaissance system is a modern solution for receiving and intercepting radio signals. It is designed to determine the sources of these signals and transmit information about them to higher command or directly to fire assets.
The "Torn-MDM" can be installed on both automotive chassis and in a stationary version. This allows it to be adapted to various operating conditions. The mobile version of the system is installed on a "KamAZ" chassis, and the necessary electronic equipment is housed in standard van bodies. The kit also includes remote antenna posts with telescopic masts, providing flexibility in deployment.
Before starting work, all elements of the system are deployed on the ground and connected with cables. The exact characteristics and capabilities of the "Torn-MDM" have not yet been disclosed. However, it is known that the "Torn-8P" modification can detect and intercept radio signals in the frequency range from 1.5 to 3000 MHz, including standard frequencies of civilian communication systems.
