New rules for drivers will come into effect in Russia on November 1, 2025. If a driver does not have an OSAGO policy, they can be automatically identified using road cameras. This was announced by Ekaterina Solovyova, an expert in the field of automotive law and a specialist in the "People's Front. Analytics" direction.
On behalf of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, starting from November 1, 2025, a new type of violation recording is planned to be introduced. Thus, road users who have not taken out an OSAGO policy will be detected automatically using surveillance cameras on the roads, Solovyova informed.
For insurance companies, such automatic recording is economically beneficial. After all, this will force drivers to take out a policy after all.
As the auto lawyer emphasized, technically, it is easiest to calculate the absence of an OSAGO policy in the database.
