The Central Research Institute for Precision Machine Engineering (TsNIITOCHMASH JSC, part of the Kalashnikov concern) has delivered another batch of aerosol-forming optoelectronic countermeasure ammunition AOB-05 to the troops. This was reported by the press service of the arms concern.
AOB-5 protects armored vehicles from high-precision weapons of the enemy. In case of a threat, the military shoots a projectile, which instantly creates an impenetrable aerosol cloud for 80-90 m. It neutralizes the effect of laser, optical, thermal and radar guidance systems of the enemy.
The ammunition can be used at temperatures from -40 to +50 °С. The press service of Kalashnikov clarified that AOB-05 is capable of suppressing the guidance systems of most anti-tank systems.
The product has been mass-produced at TsNIITOCHMASH for over 10 years. Russian military personnel highly appreciate the ammunition for its effectiveness.
