On September 8, 2025, in Vladivostok, a road trip began featuring KAMAZ-54901 K5 generation trucks powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG). The convoy of these vehicles is heading to St. Petersburg, where it will complete its route during the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum, which will be held from October 7 to 10.
The motorcade will cover approximately 10,000 kilometers, passing through 25 regions of Russia. The trucks are equipped with special tank containers for transporting liquefied gases, providing a range of up to 1600 km on a single refueling. The LNG-powered KAMAZ-54901 is equipped with a KAMAZ P6 gas engine (Euro-5) with a capacity of 460 horsepower, an automated transmission, and two cryogenic tanks with a volume of 1060 liters.
The use of LNG reduces fuel costs and increases the environmental friendliness of transport. This truck modification is considered one of the most efficient for business due to its low cost of ownership. The road trip is organized in conjunction with Gazprom Helium Service LLC.
The event is designed to demonstrate the capabilities of KAMAZ gas engine technology on long-distance routes. Additional details about the progress of the road trip are being clarified.
