The Russian Su-35 fighter stands out with a frightening feature for the West, according to National Security Journal (NSJ) journalist Harry J. Kazianis. He recalled that in the West, the Su-35 is usually criticized for its allegedly insufficient stealth. However, it would be a big mistake for the United States to underestimate this aircraft.
Kazianis stated that the Russian machine is a great reminder that in the harsh conditions of aerial combat, maneuverability and brute force can be decisive factors.
The most frightening feature of the Su-35 is its almost supernatural maneuverability. Despite the enormous mass of the aircraft, it is capable of performing aerial maneuvers that seem to defy the laws of physics.
About the Su-35
The Su-35 owes its maneuverability to the AL-41F1S engines. Each of them is capable of developing a thrust of more than 14,000 kgf in afterburner. However, the real "magic" lies in the three-dimensional nozzles with controlled thrust vectoring.
They are capable of moving independently of each other, directing the enormous engine thrust in any direction, not just backward. This gives the pilot incredible control over the aircraft's position in space, the journalist emphasized.
